چکیده
Underlying the development of antibody diversity is a unique pattern of gene organization and molecular events. THREE FAMILIES OF IMMUNOGLOBULIN GENES exist in mammals, one encoding HEAVY chains, another KAPPA chains, and the third LAMBDA chains. Each of these clusters contains one or more constant region genes and a number of variable region gene segments. The formation of a complete variable region of a light or heavy chain requires the joining of two or three separate genetic elements by a process of GENE REARRANGEMENT; a separate DNA rearrangement in the heavy-chain complex is required for subsequent CLASSSWITCHING. Both germ-line and somatic events contribute to antibody diversity, including COMBINATORIAL JOINING, SOMATIC MUTATION and COMBINATORIAL ASSOCIATION. This gene organization and the requirement for gene rearrangement is unique to immunoglobulins, with the single exception of the related family of genes encoding the T-CELL RECEPTORS, whose functions will be discussed later.

متن کاملPreparation and characterization of a novel nanobody against T-cell immunoglobulin and mucin-3 (TIM-3)
Objective(s): As T-cell immunoglobulin and mucin domain 3 (TIM-3) is an immune regulatory molecule; its blocking or stimulating could alter the pattern of immune response towards a desired condition. Based on the unique features of nanobodies, we aimed to construct an anti-TIM-3 nanobody as an appropriate tool for manipulating immune responses for future therapeutic purposes. Materials and Meth...
متن کاملGenetic Diversity and Molecular Phylogeny of Iranian Sheep Based on Cytochrome b Gene Sequences
Phylogenetic relationships and genetic variation between two Iranian sheep breeds were analyzed using cytochrome b (cyt-b) gene sequences. The genomic DNA was isolated by salting out method and amplified cytochrome b gene using polymerase chain reaction restriction (PCR) method with a pair of primer. A partial sequence of cyt-b gene of Iranian sheep is 780 bp and contained 13 variable sites and...
متن کاملTransient Expression of Biologically Active Anti-rabies Virus Monoclonal Antibody in Tobacco Leaves
Background: Rabies virus is a neurotropic virus that causes fatal, but, a preventable disease in mammals. Administration of rabies immunoglobulin (RIG) is essential for the post-exposure of the prophylaxis to prevent the disease. However, replacement of polyclonal RIGs with alternative monoclonal antibodies (MAbs) that are capable of neutralizing rabies virus has been recommend...
